Alexa Johnson
Director of Housing Policy and Advocacy
Alexa Johnson serves as Director of Housing Policy and Advocacy at the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP). She brings more than nine years of experience leading rapid re-housing and homeless prevention services for extremely low income households as Executive Director of the Housing Resource Center of Monterey County (HRC). There, she focused on strengthening programs to better reflect community needs and helped establish HRC as one of Monterey County’s leading rapid re-housing providers.
Alexa has developed creative approaches to addressing local housing challenges, including room-share initiatives, outreach partnerships with schools and shelters, and the Landlord Gold Standard program, which strengthened relationships among nonprofit organizations, the clients they serve, and landlord partners.
In her role at MBEP, Alexa looks forward to building on this experience by advancing housing policies and solutions that are economically feasible, environmentally conscious, and supportive of the region’s workforce and communities.
Alexa holds a Master’s degree in Applied Anthropology from San José State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Behavioral Science from California State University, Monterey Bay.
