Limited tickets are still available for MBEP’s half-day conference exploring how artificial intelligence is transforming our economy, our communities, and the future of work
(Sept. 4, 2026 — Marina, CA) — “AI and the Future of Our Region“ will take place on Thursday, Sept. 10, at CSU Monterey Bay’s University Center in Marina. Organized by the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP), the half-day event brings together experts from top organizations like OpenAI, Loti AI, the Hoover Institution, Stanford Law, and GoFundMe to discuss the impacts of artificial intelligence on the economy, workforce, and public trust here on the Central Coast.
Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we live, work, govern, and innovate — and its impact will be felt across every sector of our regional economy. From healthcare and education to agriculture, manufacturing, public policy, and business, AI is reshaping how organizations operate and preparing us for a new era of opportunity and change.
Yet, as artificial intelligence accelerates, it raises critical questions that leaders and communities must confront:
- The Evolution of Work: How will AI reshape current jobs, and how can we prepare students for the careers of tomorrow?
- Safeguarding Public Trust: In an era of synthetic media, deepfakes, and automated disinformation, how do we protect the integrity of our democratic institutions?
- Fostering AI Literacy: What strategies are needed to build widespread AI literacy in an increasingly complex information landscape?
- Adapting Education & Training: How must education and workforce development evolve to equip our community for an AI-driven economy?
- Proactive Policy & Safety Nets: What frameworks and safeguards are required to shield local businesses, individuals, and public trust from emerging risks?
“To prepare for the future, we need to bring the right people to the table. ‘AI and the Future of Our Region’ conference is the focused conversation that this moment requires,” said Monterey Bay Economic Partnership President Tahra Goraya. “By connecting local leaders with globally recognized experts, we can address the real-world challenges and opportunities of AI, helping our region shape a collaborative roadmap for future policies and practices.”
