(March 26, 2025 — Marina, CA) Join the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) as we delve into key insights and perspectives on the economic landscape of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties at our 2025 Regional Economic Outlook, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at Seascape Golf Club in Aptos.
This year’s keynote address and economic outlook will be provided by Jon Haveman, Ph.D., principal of Marin Economic Consulting and executive director of the National Economic Education Delegation. Widely considered to be one of California’s leading experts on the economics of seaports, goods movement, and international trade policy, he is also an expert in regional economies and local economic development.
Also headlining will be a discussion with veteran political consultant Mike Madrid centered around his latest book, “The Latino Century” and its exploration of the true meaning of America at a time of rapid cultural change, the founding principles of self-government and individual responsibility. A nationally recognized political consultant with expertise in Latino voting trends and voter behavior, Madrid has been a pioneer in Latino communications and outreach strategies in state, local, and national political campaigns.
As the economies of the tri-county region are deeply interrelated, our May 1 event will also offer a rare opportunity to hear from all three tri-county administrative officers: Sonia De La Rosa, County Administrative Officer, Monterey County; Henie Ring, Interim County Administrative Officer, San Benito County; and Carlos Palacios, County Executive Officer, Santa Cruz County.
MBEP’s Regional Economic Outlook will include an update on the exciting regional work being done across the Central Coast and Monterey Bay, with a regional economic development planning update through the lens of the following programs: Uplift Central Coast, Regions Rise Together, and Monterey Bay Tech Hubs.
Additional speakers and topics to be announced soon.
Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, and a copy of “The Latino Century.” Early-bird registration ends on April 11. Reserve your ticket at https://www.mbep.biz/events/2025-regional-economic-outlook
