City of Greenfield
In May of 2021, the Greenfield City Council voted unanimously to approve the 100% affordable development called Greenfield Commons by EAH Housing, which will bring 222 units of farmworker and other affordable housing to our region. The project will provide 222 units of farmworker and other affordable housing targeting income levels of approximately 40% to 70% of Area Median Income. Greenfield Commons will include community buildings with amenities such as multi-purpose rooms, a fitness space, laundry, and leasing offices for residents. Open space areas are also proposed onsite. The new apartments will meet high environmental standards including energy efficiency, solar PV, low-flow water systems, and drought-tolerant landscaping. The project has also received millions of dollars in government funding commitments, including the Joe Serna Jr. Farmworker Housing Grant.MBEP endorsed the project in July of 2019 and engaged in an advocacy campaign that included working with City staff, various community organizations, and community members, and educating people on the merits of the project and the great need that such a project addresses.
