WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT UPDATES
We continue to partner with all the major educational institutions in the region, and are promoting MBEP’s free career and college readiness online resources on Monterey Bay Career Connect, to provide displaced workers with necessary tools, such as job seeker resources, career assessment, resume builder, and local labor market data and live job postings on Monterey Bay Career Coach. New additions to Monterey Bay Career Connect include resources for Foster & Unhoused Youth, Hospitality 2 Health, a web-based resource to assist hospitality workers’ transition into careers at senior living communities and skilled nursing facilities in the region, and Forestry Careers, providing information about forest career pathways and specifically in our region how drones could help innovate and revolutionize the way we manage our ecosystem and protect our future. Watch our “Flying into the Future” video here. We are collaborating with Santa Cruz Public Libraries Santa Cruz Workforce Collaborative to expand workforce development resources for the community.
Launched in 2019, MBEP’s Student Ambassador Program provides work-based learning for college-level and graduate students enrolled at a higher education institution in the Monterey Bay region; approximately 29 interns have participated in the program to date. We’re currently participating in the Santa Cruz Gives Campaign to increase funding for our student interns. Consider donating today! Additionally, we continue to encourage employers to connect with students by providing internship opportunities via the free Monterey Bay Internships portal. Use our comprehensive Employer Toolkit to get your internship started!
