MBEP Recognized by United Way with Community Impact Award

(October 1, 2018) -Marina, CA –  Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) was honored on September 26 with a “Community Impact Award” from United Way Monterey County (UWMC) at their Annual Community Breakfast. Community Impact Awards were presented to key partners supporting UWMC in achieving its mission. In addition to MBEP, a Community Impact Award was also given to Anna Caballero, CA State Assemblymember, in recognition of her long service to Central Coast residents, and to MBEP member Goodwill Central Coast for their support of financial stability for families in Monterey County in launching the Prosperity Platform that helps people increase income and build assets.

UWMC is an MBEP member, and a partner in their Monterey Bay Housing Trust (MBHT), a revolving low-cost loan fund managed by MBEP, enabled through their partnership with Housing Trust Silicon Valley. The goal of this fund is to increase the supply of affordable housing in the region, with an emphasis on low to very low income households.

Katy Castagna, President and CEO of UWMC said, “The education, convening and advocacy provided by the MBEP staff and their Housing Advisory Committee have been invaluable in shaping our regional conversation around housing. We are proud to be part of MBEP and feel it has helped elevate our work at United Way. Together we are bringing affordable housing to the families of Monterey County.”
