North County Santa Cruz Election Forum Recap
On Thursday, October 1st, Monterey Bay Economic Partnership partnered with the Santa Cruz County Business Council (SCCBC) and Affordable Housing Now to present a housing-specific Election Forum. Special thank you to Robert Singleton from the SBCC for co-moderating, along with Tim Willoughby of Affordable Housing Now for providing input in developing our program.
Each candidate was given an opportunity to present their housing agenda, as well as answer some questions regarding local housing. We thank the eleven candidates from Santa Cruz County Supervisorial District 1, the City of Scotts Valley, and the City of Santa Cruz who joined us and shared their vision for affordable housing with the community. Included among the many important issues discussed were:
- The development of Scotts Valley Town Center
- The upzoning of single-family neighborhoods
- The implementation of the Sustainable Santa Cruz Plan
- The adoption of a transfer tax for affordable housing
- Santa Cruz Downtown Library Plan,
- The future of the Santa Cruz Corridors Plan
