Join Monterey Bay Economic Partnership in a series of Housing Element Workshops co-hosted and supported by a number of community stakeholders to demystify the Housing Element and kick off our region’s efforts toward achieving the 6th Cycle Housing Element goals.

Updated every eight years, the Housing Element (Elemento de Vivienda en Español) is a critical component in community development planning. The Housing Element process allows cities and counties to create an approach to housing that is specific to the needs of their communities. As the needs of populations fluctuate, Housing Elements create a roadmap to ensure that a supply of quality, affordable housing is available throughout the region.

“This is a once-in-a decade opportunity to engage with your community’s housing development plan,” said MBEP Housing Program Manager Alyssa Kroeger. “This plan belongs to the entire community and its effects will be felt for generations to come. It is extremely important, now more than ever, for everyone’s voice and priorities to be heard as we collectively take stock of where communities currently are in addressing our local housing needs, and where we want to go moving forward. Our region needs your help to ensure local plans incorporate Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) requirements, identify suitable housing sites, and result in sustainable communities for residents of all income levels.”
